YOGA FOR SENIORS, LIMITED MOBILITY, AND DISABILITY
Yoga is for EveryBODY
For the Mind & Body
I have been working with the senior and limited mobility community since 2018. I teach at a range of different at-home facilities including but not limited to nursing homes, memory centers, hospice care, and personal home visits. My students in this community range from 35 with early onset dementia with full range of mobility to 97 paralized from the neck down but still able to breathe and meditate, and everything in between.
My biggest takeaway from working with this incredible population of people is that yoga truly heals all and that there are no barriers to receiving benefits from this practice. It is never too late to develop a loving and kind relationship with yourself.
Wellness at Every Age
This community is usually left out of the typical stereotypes that come with a consistent yoga practice, but they need it just as much as anyone. It is time for the yoga/meditation/health & wellness world to be extended to our elders and to make sure no one is forgotten, this practice is for everyBODY.
From my Chair to Yours
Chair Yoga is a gentle form of yoga that can be done sitting on a chair. It is beneficial if you have limited mobility. This class is meant for seniors 65 + and this sequence is used in nursing homes and home hospice care – anyone can do it! Chair yoga not only incorporates full-body movement but also breath and basic meditation techniques. This class will assist you in building strength, functionality in your body, memory tests as well as deepen your connection with yourself.
